Abstract Challenge Day 13: Combo of Two

Two of these left.

Today was combo of two. I dithered over something to do for this, but then decided to be lazy. I went with dots and half moons.

I did a base of Sally Hansen Insta-Dri Expresso topped it with Color Club top coat and let it go overnight, then did the half moons with Sally Hansen Insta-Dri Lickety-Split Lime. I did the dots with Wet N Wild Undercover and topped everything with a second coat of Color Club top coat.

Next up is a new-to-me tutorial.

Abstract Challenge Day 12: Water Marble

Point proven. Last minute again.

Okay, today, I was lazy. So instead of marbling all my hands, I did a marbled accent nail.

Painted all my fingers with Wet N Wild French White Crème, marbled with Zoya Pippa and Nina on the accent nail, painted the rest of my nails with just Pippa.

This mani proved to me I hate yellow on its own.

Next time on this challenge: Combo of two, and three more to go!

Abstract Challenge Day 11: Household Item

Today’s challenge is one I’ve been meaning to do for a while. I first saw these Ziploc bag nails when Nicole at Nail Polish Wars do them. I started with a coat of Sally Hansen Xtreme Wear Mint Sorbet. That also happens to be my Favorite Friday polish for today. It’s a gorgeous one coater mint green. I love it, and I have yet to find a polish in that line I dislike. For the watercolor part, I used Shades of the Season Light Blue and Wet N Wild Tickled Pink. Tomorrow I start something I’ve planned when I realized the Black & White challenge ran short, then Sunday is water marble.

Abstract Challenge Day 10: Stripes

Today’s nails were stripes. This is the type of striped nails I wanted to do last month but ended up not doing.

I started with a base of Wet N Wild French White Crème, then did the stripes with LA Colors Art Deco Sea Foam Green, Color Club Art Club Yellow, LA Colors Art Deco Hot Pink (my Pink Wednesday color), LA Colors Art Deco Mint Green, and LA Colors Art Deco Silver. Topped with NYC Matte Me Crazy.

Tomorrow is the last day of the black & white challenge: a mani of my choice and then Friday is household item nails.

Abstract Challenge Day 9: Sponging

I actually got to wear this one all day! Woo!

So today was sponging, and I did a manicure my boyfriend has been begging me to do. It’s a gradient, but over all five nails instead of one on each nail.

I started with two coats of Wet N Wild French White Crème, then sponged with Shades of the Season Red, Wet N Wild Sunny Side Up, Shades of the Season Yellow, Spoiled Permission to Proceed, Revlon Royal and Milani Rad Purple.

Tomorrow is black and white water marble, then Wednesday is stripes.

Abstract Challenge Day 8: Ombre

Ugh this was so hard. At first, I wanted to do a true ombre (one color mixed with various amounts of black and white), but then it didn’t work out, and then I wanted to do a purple ombre, but none of my purples worked well, so then I ended up with this.

From thumb to pinkie I have Shades of the Season Light Blue, Zoya Yummy, LA Colors Static Electricity, LA Colors Wired, and Revlon Royal.

Sorry for the short post, but it’s getting late. Tomorrow is sponged black & white, then Monday is… well Monday also happens to be sponged nails. Oh wow. That worked out interestingly.

Abstract Challenge Day 7: Half Moons

I’ve learned from my past mistakes. My half moon experience was much better this time. I painted the first color (Shades of the Season Light Blue) last night, and let it dry overnight before adding the second color (Essie Little Brown Dress). Topped with Color Club Top Coat.

Today is also Treatment Thursday and I’m gonna talk about the Color Club Top Coat. I like that I can use it on tape based manis (tape, French tip, half moon) like I did today, because it’s a thinner top coat than most.

Tomorrow is black & white with glitter, and Saturday is ombre.

Abstract Challenge Day 6: Dots

I find it funny that it worked out like it did today. You see, everyone who is doing the 31 Day Challenge this month is on Polka Dot day, so I found it interesting that Dots day for my Abstract Challenge was also the 11th. Dots all around.

I went with a matte metallic look today (finally got my damn matte look. I’ve been wanting to go matte for days. But I apparently take my boyfriend’s opinion too seriously, and let him answer my internal “shiny or matte” debate. He never answers matte.)

Started with a coat of Anise Money to Burn, then did dots with Kleancolor Ocean Wave and Sally Hansen Xtreme Wear Celeb City. Topped with NYC Matte Me Crazy.

Today is also a Try it on Tuesday. Both the Anise and the Kleancolor are untrieds, IMO (I swatched the Anise, yes. But I never used it in a NOTD mani before now.)

Tomorrow is Color with White for the Black & White Challenge, then Thursday is Half Moons from this challenge. (Oh God, not again. :/)
