It’s Sunday, so that means it’s challenge day at Adventures in Stamping. This week’s challenge was “Inspired by your favorite fairy tale.” Well, I don’t really have a favorite fairy tale, so I went down the list of my favorite Disney movies until I came across one I liked that I could work with given my limited stamping supplies.
I’m on a roll with these manis this week! Go me! This one is kinda doing double duty. First, I got to play with my new striping tapes that I got yesterday, and second, it’s my first of four manis for The Nail Challenge Collaborative‘s May challenge of stamping.
Trying out a slightly different background today, what do you think?
I swear I have non-challenge posts in the wings.
But this one is run by Erica’s Nails and More (and with a name like that, how can I not participate?). Once a week on every Sunday for the next 26 weeks, I’ll be posting either a polish color, polish brand, or technique starting with that week’s letter. And since this is the first week, today’s letter is…
I find it funny that it worked out like it did today. You see, everyone who is doing the 31 Day Challenge this month is on Polka Dot day, so I found it interesting that Dots day for my Abstract Challenge was also the 11th. Dots all around.
I went with a matte metallic look today (finally got my damn matte look. I’ve been wanting to go matte for days. But I apparently take my boyfriend’s opinion too seriously, and let him answer my internal “shiny or matte” debate. He never answers matte.)
Started with a coat of Anise Money to Burn, then did dots with Kleancolor Ocean Wave and Sally Hansen Xtreme Wear Celeb City. Topped with NYC Matte Me Crazy.
Today is also a Try it on Tuesday. Both the Anise and the Kleancolor are untrieds, IMO (I swatched the Anise, yes. But I never used it in a NOTD mani before now.)
Tomorrow is Color with White for the Black & White Challenge, then Thursday is Half Moons from this challenge. (Oh God, not again. :/)
This is the post I wanted to do for Stash Sunday last week, but changed my mind. Here are my absolute favorite polishes.
L-R: Shades of the Season Light Blue, Wet N Wild Party of Five Glitters, Wet N Wild Tickled Pink, Wet N Wild Blazed, Wet N Wild Hallucinate, Wet N Wild Undercover, Sally Hansen Xtreme Wear Mint Sorbet, Sally Hansen Xtreme Wear Celeb City.
Sally Hansen Insta-Dri Cinna-Snap, Sally Hansen Hard to Get, Sally Hansen Ink Splatter, Sinful Colors Frenzy, 10 Lacquer Moonlight, 10 Lacquer Birthday Suit, Revlon Royal
Milani Cyberspace, Nina Ultra Pro Emerald City, NYC Prospect Park Pink, NYC Sidewalkers, Essie Cocktail Bling, Anise Money to Burn, Kleancolor Espresso.
A new month, a new challenge. Today marks the start of the abstract challenge, and today was French tips.
I started with a coat of Sally Hansen Insta-Dri Cinna-Snap, a rich dark red. I did the tips in Anise Wildcat. Topped it off with NYC Extra Shiny Top Coat.
I had some issues with the polish pulling off my nails when I did the tips (I used nail tip guides for the tips), but you can’t really tell. Also, I was originally gonna use my Sally Hansen top coat, which I had just thinned. However, even though it wasn’t supposed to, the thinner ruined the top coat and it now dries cloudy. Very sad.
Tomorrow is day one of the Black & White Challenge, Black on White. Monday is the next time I visit this challenge, doing a tape manicure.
